Following the Group Stage Draw for the 2022/23 season of the Champions Hockey League, we spoke to representatives of the teams drawn into Group E to find out their thoughts about their opponents.
Group E features 2022 ICE champions Red Bull Salzburg, Swiss side Fribourg-Gottéron, who became the first team in CHL history to make it through the Group Stage unbeaten and with a full 18 points last season, CHL newcomers Ilves Tampere and Norweigan champions the Stavanger Oilers.
"I think we have a good group, really tight," started Fribourg-Gottéron's Sports Director Christian Dubé, "as usual in the Champions Hockey League - it will be a big challenge."
Ilves' Sports Director Timo Koskela said his side are "really looking forward to playing", adding, "it is a great opportunity for us. We qualified two years ago, but unfortunately, the season was cancelled so this will be our first time playing."
Salzburg's Sports Director Helmut Schlögl thinks it's "great to have the chance to challenge top teams from different countries, to see different playing styles, etc. It's a huge opportunity for us and we are really excited!"
Pal Haukali Higson of the Stavanger Oilers said that his side will face three good teams, but that he thinks it's a "group in which we can compete in if we bring our best game."
