- Ellorinne & Järvinen: 2 goals each for Tappara
- Chmielewski & Cienciala: goal each for Třinec
- Třinec: outscored 14-3 over two home games
Tappara Tampere got their first win of the competition and now have four points, while Oceláři Třinec suffered their second straight big loss on home ice and are still searching for their first points. Tappara won 8-2, with Aleksi Ellorinne and Matti Järvinen each scoring twice.
It took a while for Tappara’s offence to get going. In fact, thanks to a couple of early powerplays, Třinec had the best chances early. But Järvinen opened the scoring on a rebound with 1:50 left in the first period, and then the floodgates opened in the second. When Antti Erkinjuntti made it 5-0 and 31:08, Peter Hamerlík was lifted in favour of Šimon Hrubec, who was unable to stop the bleeding. The score was 7-1 after 40 minutes and the teams traded goals in an otherwise uneventful third period.
“I don’t know what to say. It happened, we lost twice in a row, and I don’t know why. First period wasn’t bad at all, we had some scoring chances but we weren’t able to convert them. And after that it all went wrong. Now we go to Sweden and Finland, we will try to get some points there. We still have four games in front of us, we have to learn from those two games and be better next time. I would also like to thank our fans. They didn’t leave the rink and stayed until the end.”David Cienciala (Forward, Oceláři Třinec)
