Eisbären Berlin have won nine German championship titles since re-unification in 1990. Prior to that, the club were champions of East Germany 15 times under the name SC Dynamo Berlin. The team also finished third at the 1983/84 European Cup.
In light of the many successful years in the recent past and as the only former East German club in the DEL, Eisbären have built a huge fanbase in the former East Germany. A new era in the club's history began in 1999 when Anschutz Entertainment Group took over on the business side and set up new structures that provided the club with financial stability. This led to unprecedented success for the club, with seven titles in a nine-year span between 2004 and 2013. During this time Berlin also won the European Trophy in 2010.
In the 2017/18 season, they made it to the DEL Finals for the first time in half a decade but came up short against Red Bull Munich.
In 2020/21 and 2021/22, the Eisbären managed to win back-to-back league titles and with nine titles are once more the sole DEL record champions, ahead of rivals Adler Mannheim.
In the 2015/16 and 2016/17 CHL seasons, they advanced through the Group Stages and Rounds of 32 to reach the Round of 16 each time. They were the first German team to reach that stage of the tournament.
2021/22 saw them miss out on the CHL Playoffs for the third time in five participations, but Berlin have a chance to rectify this disappointment in 2022/23.
