ERC Ingolstadt (Eishockey-und-Rollschuh Club Ingolstadt) date their history back to 1964 and spent the first few decades of their existence in the lower tiers of German ice hockey.
The club are based in the city of Ingolstadt which is located in Bavaria. Commonly known as the Panthers, they play their games in the Saturn Arena which has a capacity of 4,815 spectators. In the 2008/09 season, the team took part in the prestigious Spengler Cup.
They first played in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) in 2002 following three seasons of continuous finals appearances in Germany's second tier during which they battled for promotion marking the start of a new era for the club.
The team, whose traditional colours are blue and white, won the DEL championship in 2014 for the first and so far only time in their 50-year history. The team went from 9th place in the regular season all the way to the final beating accomplished sides Hamburg and Berlin on their underdog journey.
The team then made the DEL finals again the following season, this time missing out on the silverware.
The club have played in four Champions Hockey League seasons throughout their history, qualifying for the inaugural 2014/15 season and then featuring in 2015/16, 2016/17 and most recently in 2023/24. Their best result to date was making the Round of 16 in 2023.
