HC Davos were founded in 1921 and, with 31 league titles, is the most successful hockey club in Switzerland. Since 1996 the club has been led by head coach Arno Del Curto, under whose watch six of those championships have been won. HC Davos is one of the most popular clubs in Switzerland and can count on a large following throughout the country. Their home arena, Vaillant Arena, is a unique architectural creation made of wood, which stands 1560 metres above sea level, surrounded by the Swiss Alps. Each December, HC Davos and Valliant Arena also co-host the annual Spengler Cup, which is Europe's longest-running international club ice hockey tournament, dating back to 1923.
