Three teams are in the hunt for second place in the Swedish Hockey League, which ends on Thursday. Meanwhile, three teams are also in the hunt for second spot in the Finnish Liiga, which wraps up on Monday.
Sweden
The Swedish Hockey League regular season ends on Thursday, so we know that league's final standings at the end of that day's action. The Vaxjo Lakers have already qualified as regular season champions and Frolunda Gothenburg have already qualified as 2016-17 CHL champions. Frolunda might also finish second in the regular season, in which case there would be three CHL spots up for grab in the SHL playoffs. If they don't, there will only be two. Frolunda visit Linkoping HC on Thursday, with both teams having a chance at finishing second if they win. The other team in the mix is HV71 Jonkoping, who host Farjestad Karlstad. Linkoping are in the driver's seat - they know they're in if they win in regulation time. After that, things can get complicated, with even a three-way tie possible at the end of the day's action.
Thursday's key games: HV71 – Farjestad, Linkoping – Frolunda.
Finland
The Liiga regular season runs through to Monday. Tappara Tampere clinched top spot last week, but three teams are within one point for second spot. Then on Saturday and Monday, all three teams play their final two regular season games.
Thursday's key game: Karpat – TPS.
Saturday: JYP – KooKoo, KalPa – Sport, SaiPa – TPS.
Monday: IFK Helsinki – JYP, Lukko – KalPa, TPS – Assat.
