Each Wednesday we're going to tell you some things you might not know about our stars in this season's Champions Hockey League, especially what they do off the ice. Today it's the turn of the Cardiff Devils' head chef, and crossword king!
Joey Haddad joined the Cardiff Devils in 2014 straight out of the ECHL and has since put up 157 points in 199 EIHL games before this season started. In the CHL he has five in ten, including a goal in the Devils' win over Växjö last season.
Off the ice, however, he has other strings in his bow. His nickname is 'Chef', which goes back to his first season in Cardiff when everyone on the team needed to have a nickname. What's his favourite thing to make? "Cooking is a tough one, but probably it's my spaghetti carbonara", says the 29-year-old. And when he's not in the kitchen, or banging in the goals, then Haddad is also no stranger to a crossword to solve either!
Haddad and two of his teammates were even guests last year on a BBC Sport feature, where he cooked for reporter Laura Jenkins.
