The mighty ZSC Lions Zurich kept the European Trophy in Switzerland last night when they narrowly beat Swedish rivals Färjestad Karlstad to the European Club Champions title in front of a rocking crowd in Zurich's Swiss Life Arena.
And, unsurprisingly, LGT MVP Award Winner and LGT Top Scorer of 2024/25 Sven Andrighetto was the most important player out on the ice, scoring both of Zurich's goals and troubling the Färjestad net all night long. How does the newly crowned CHL Champion feel?
"It's amazing," he started, "playing a game like this in front of our fans, family and friends is just so special. I really want to enjoy the moment as best I can."
The sold-out Swiss Life Arena was spectacular, mainly thanks to the electric home fans. Is Andrighetto used to their support?
"They show up for us and push us all year long but in the big games like this they are always there," he commented, "I had goosebumps when I stepped out on the ice."
And the game? Two goals scored was a job well done for the player who ended 2024/25 with 22 points (10G, 12A) in 12 games played.
"It was emotional, but it was a full team effort and I was just happy to help the team. Everybody played their part," he ended.
