The final press conference in the Champions Hockey League roadshow took place this afternoon in Stockholm. There, representatives of the five Swedish teams in the CHL this season gave an insight into what they expect.

First up new CHL Board member Håkan Loob told reporters what some of his tasks will involve over the new season. “I’m going to work to show that the quality of hockey is good in the CHL, this is a tournament that has grown to having a high standard. Our own league is good but we need to realise that the Swedish hockey is changing," he explained. "The fans need to realise that the CHL does have a high standard. We need a tournament like this. Fans will grow to understand that this is high quality. Looking at this season, anything other than high expectations for the Swedish teams would be wrong."

Djurgården's Andreas Engqvist didn't play in the CHL before, but is looking forward to it nonetheless. "I haven’t been involved in the CHL earlier, and I played in the Nordic Trophy before," he explained. "Playing against international opponents breaks the usual routine a bit and it’s a nice way to compete. Starting against Třinec is tough, they’ve been great going far so as they did last season and it’ll be a good test for us early.”

By their own high standards Frölunda had a disappointing year last season - leaving the CHL to Liberec in the Round of 16 and only qualified for the CHL by finishing third in the SHL. “We always enter the competition with the goal to win. We only just got into the competition this year but we’re happy to be back and we’ll give it our upmost," explained Head Coach Roger Rönnberg. "The Czech teams are in general very good, so Robert and Djurgården have to watch out for them! We’ve turned the tide crowd wise, I think, with a few sold out final games. But It’d be nice to have a few sellouts on the way to the final."

Malmö Redhawks also exited the competition early last season to Czech opposition, from whom Fredrik Händemark thinks they maybe could learn something. "Personally I think it’s great being in the CHL. Seeing other teams, other fans, visiting some new countries. Czechs teams like to take their chances and let go a bit-  that’d be something for us to do as well from time to time!”

Skellefteå AIK return to the CHL after a year out, and their captain Jimmie Ericsson summed things up pretty nicely: “If we don't bring our A-game from the start, we could be out early," he told reporters. "We want to win everything, and I haven’t won a CHL trophy yet!"

Finally last year's beaten finalists the Växjö Lakers know not only what it takes to reach the final CHL game, but also what they're up against in their group. "We’d love to start the campaign as well as possible. We’ll be facing a difficult Bern side that canceled their day off with a punishing practice after their loss last weekend!" he revealed. "Red Bull are a team that check everywhere across the ice. And Cardiff are great at home, I tell you, great. Sparta Prague ran the score up against us before, so we know the competition is great. We’ve learned a lot over the five years about this competition.”
