Austrian side Graz 99ers have won Austria's EBEL regular season round, and thereby qualified for the 2019/20 Champions Hockey League.
Doug Mason's team beat Vienna on Friday night in the Austrian capital to set up the possibility of finishing first, and did it on Sunday night with an overtime win in Dornbirn. They're the first new team to qualify for next season's competition. Mason meanwhile has previous CHL experience, having coached Klagenfurt in the 2015/16 season.
The honour of being the first team to qualify for the 2019/20 CHL went to Adler Mannheim earlier in the day. Their 4-0 win over Schwennigen means they can finish no lower than regular seasons runners up, and therefore qualify.
