Both Genève and Skellefteå have been deadly this season, as both of our Finalists rank in the Top 5 of our goals scored leaderboard. The Swiss team have scored 41 goals in 12 games which comes in at 3.42 goals per game while Swedish challengers Skellefteå have scored three less in the same amount of CHL games this season, taking them to a very respectable 3.17 goals per game.

Genève will have the benefit of home ice thanks to a better accumulated record throughout the entire 2023/24 CHL season, but that won't be bothering the visitors any time soon as Skellefteå have been clinical on the road this season, having won 5/6 games away.

A few players to keep an eye on

Jussi Olkinuora, Genève-Servette

Ever since joining Genève in mid-December, Olkinuora has been their go-to man in net. The Finn sports a near 91% save percentage and, combined with his four CHL games for the Lahti Pelicans earlier in the season, has made over 150 saves in seven games.

Oskar Nilsson, Skellefteå AIK

2G + 6A is the record this offensively-minded D-man has heading into the Final and with two huge goals against Färjestad in the QFs Return Game, watch for Nilsson late into the game.

Sami Vatanen, Genève-Servette

12 points in ten games, 23+ minutes of ice time per game, a team-high of 20+ blocked shots and some big hits to his name this season - this is one of Genève's most valuable players on the ice!

Axel Sandin-Pellikka, Skellefteå AIK

Sandin-Pellikka has been in the spotlight ever since he was drafted in the first round of the NHL Entry Draft by the Detroit Red Wings and he's stood up to the task! 3G+2A this season mean he's one of the more productive players of the team - all while playing from the blue line!

Tanner Richard, Genève-Servette

With two goals and 10 assists this season, 30-year-old Richard has been a huge part of Genève's formidable forward lines and could play a huge role in the Final against Skellefteå!

Rickard Hugg, Skellefteå AIK

25-year-old Swedish international Hugg already showed us all what he could do when he set the CHL alight by scoring 12 points in just nine games last season and he's followed that up with an eight-point showing in 2023/24 so far - watch this crafty forward donning the #96 jersey with a big "A" on his chest!

Genève boast a six-game unbeaten home ice record which the likes of reigning DEL champions Red Bull Munich, reigning SHL champions the Växjö Lakers and 2023 Czech Extraliga regular season winners Dynamo Pardubice haven't been able to break through.

Linus Lindström leads Skellefteå in scoring with six goals and five assists in 12 games played. Combined with 30+ shots on goal and an unusually high +/- of +10, Lindström is a player who has had a huge impact on his team's results this season.

Sami Vatanen & Tanner Richard have been Genève's point men, both having scored 12 points thus far. Most of their points have been assists, with goals being scored from players throughout the team.

Both teams have been caught out in Playoffs First Game in 2023/24 so the one-game Final could prove challenging for both of our Finalists.

Though Genève's powerplay unit hasn't been as clinical as Skellefteå's, domestically, they've been very solid. On the flip side, the Swedes enter the CHL Final with one of the best goals against records in the SHL.

A somewhat unrelated, yet important, point to note is that the last two Champions Hockey League Finals have seen a goal scored within the first three minutes of game time so get ready for action from the get-go!

It's clear these two teams are in the 2023/24 Final for a reason. They have been lethal in the pan-European competition all season, relying on elite players from up and down their rosters to do the scoring while backing that up with solid defending and reliable goaltending.

As Genève's Jussi Olkinuora said himself: "Everything needs to fall into place in order to make it this far and be successful."
