The Champions Hockey League held its annual 'Club Information Meeting' yesterday, to help all participating teams prepare for the upcoming 2022/23 season.
Information about the competition's prize money, media & communications, and sport processes was given out by the league to representatives from all clubs, not just shareholders.
CHL CEO Martin Baumann opened the meeting with his season review and outlook for 2022/23, followed by a presentation from partner Infront and a presentation about Rögle Ängelholm’s CHL approach as a first-time participant by Daniel Koch, Rögle’s CEO, and Kari Litmanen, Commercial Director of the club.
Koch and Litmanen highlighted how important it was for them to engage everyone and how their bold goal of being “in it to win it” helped generate interest.
For us, it has been all about engagementKari Litmanen, Rögle Ängelholm’s Commercial Director
“Engaging our fans, partners, sponsors and media. Making them excited and making them dream together with us. We started the season saying we’re in it to win it and that got everybody on board.”
“This was key to making the entire season a success for us.”
Alfred Prey of Pinguins Bremerhaven also took to the stage to discuss his side’s business case and how Bremerhaven, a relatively small club from the DEL, functioned in the CHL and what a success the games were among their fans.
Guy Fournier of the Rouen Dragons of France spent time talking about how the CHL’s pan-European reach has helped them progress as a club on all levels, mentioning how beneficial it has been for them to see how larger foreign clubs operate and how welcome and helpful many of their opponents have been to them.
KAC Klagenfurt were awarded the CHL Marketing Award at the end of last season and Hannes Biedermann, Communication Director of KAC Klagenfurt, shared his club’s insight into presenting foreign teams to their fans and the methods they used, including how presenting opponents’ backgrounds, star players, history and past achievements resulted in more interest in CHL games and higher ticket sales.
