Lars Lokken Ostli (#37) of Storhamar Hamar, time 09:13, was involved in an incident deemed as Kneeing (IIHF Rule 152). The video evidence was sent to the CHL Player Safety Committee (PSC), which determined the incident to be worthy of supplementary discipline - Category 1 - Careless.
According to the Arbitrator and having considered the video evidence and ruling of the CHL PSC, player Lars Lokken Ostli (#37) of Storhamar Hamar will receive supplementary discipline under rule 152 – Kneeing.
From the perspective of the CHL Sports Board, Lars Lokken Ostli (#37) made contact to the opposing player causing an apparent injury. The opposing player gained puck possession off a turnover. The turnover only allowed the opposing player a brief time to gain possession of the puck and skate with 1 stride/crossover.
Lars Lokken Ostli who is positioned in the corner, immediately realized the turnover. In a quick pursuit of the opposing player, Lars Lokken Ostli is forced to make a timely decision to not allow the opposing player to walk out in the slot area for a good scoring opportunity (due to the turnover). Lars Lokken Ostli, in an attempt to make a legal check, instead made a slight rotation to his left which created a wide stance and right leg to be the lead leg into contact with opposing player. The knee to knee was the principal point of contact. The knee to knee contact did cause an apparent injury.
The CHL Sports Board suspends Lars Lokken Ostli (#37) of Storhamar Hamar for 1 game, effective immediately.
