The Vienna Capitals kept their mathematic chances of making the last 16 alive with a dramatic win over EV Zug in the Austrian capital.
The hosts trailed three times thanks to Zug goals from Reto Suri, Dominic Lammer, and Suri again, respectively. The Capitals responded through Riley Holzapfel 24 seconds after going 1-0 behind, Kyle Klubertanz just before the first intermission, and then Jerry Pollastrone 18 seconds into the final period. With 16:15 to play, Taylor Cause put the Capitals ahead for the first time, and despite Zug pushing for a point, Jérôme Samson found the empty net with a minute to play.
The Capitals will still have to win in Switzerland next week, but now have some momentum going their way.
