- Fehérvár killed off every penalty, including an extended 5-on-4 advantage
- Rögle scored two in the third to take another comeback win
- Marco Kasper played hero for the visitors
Another CHL match, another comeback win as Rögle Ängelholm squeaked past Fehérvár AV19 to the tune of a 2-1 final in this David versus Goliath affair.
The transition game was on full display for both sides as they created opportunities at each end of the ice in the opening minutes.
Both sides continued to throw pucks on the opponents' net for the remainder of the first frame, but both netminders stood tall and there was nothing to separate these two teams as they were scoreless through 20.
End-to-end action continued as the second period got underway. After going scoreless in the first, the home fans were hungry for a goal and their team didn't disappoint.
Janos Hari sent Anze Kuralt on a partial breakaway and Patrick Newell was there to clean up the rebound on Kuralt's initial attempt to put his team up by one.
After 40 minutes, the Swedes found themselves in familiar territory chasing the lead with one period left to go.
As soon as the puck dropped for the final frame the visitors were awarded an excellent opportunity to earn the equaliser when Fehérvár found themselves a man down with a little under three minutes gone in the third.
Balint Magosi was banished from the game for Boarding resulting in an extended Rögle powerplay.
Seven minutes of the man-advantage would amount to nothing, however, as once again the hosts' penalty kill was up to the task and the Swedish side was still down by one.
Their special teams woes aside, the visitors would finally level things at 51:28. Michael Kapla skated in unobstructed and fired one far side to beat Dominik Horvath who seemed unstoppable up to this point. A few minutes later Rögle added to their lead on a Marco Kasper go-ahead goal.
Kasper was left unattended by the goal mouth where he found the puck and shoveled it in to break the tie.
Hari had a chance to tie it up in the dying seconds but his shot hit the side of the net and as the final horn sounded it was the comeback kids who were celebrating.
