- Historic first road win for any team from Belarus
- Artyom Levsha 1+3 for visitors
- Carl Klingberg leveled for EVZ late on
EV Zug lost their unbeaten record and missed out on the chance to book their place in the next round, as Neman Grodno claimed Belarus' first ever road win in the Champions Hockey League!
19 hours after beating Berlin at home, the hosts would have wanted a good start against the tricky side from Belarus. That they got that at 12:04, Dario Simioni's shot deflecting past Vitalie Trus thanks to a slight deflection off of Raphael Diaz.
However Grodno gradually grew into the game and it was not undeserved when they tied the scores just 45 seconds into the second period, Artyom Kisly on hand for the close-range finish. Netminder Trus was a busy man in the Neman net and, with the help of the occasional goalpost, kept the scores level into the period break.
While the home side had more possession and clearer chances, Grodno were a threat on the counter-attack for much of the game. However Zug's failure to take their chances would eventually catch up with them as Neman took a shock lead with less then five minutes to play. A fantastic drag-back and snapshot from Kisly again flew into the top corner and give his team the lead.
The home side were rescued late on - a fine individual effort from Carl Klingberg, buying himself enough space to fire over Trus and level things up with 2:31 to go. Into overtime and the best chances fell to Neman - a missed two-on-one looked like it may have cost the Belarussian champions the extra point, but with barely any time left Artyom Levsha raced through on the breakaway and saw his shot trickle through Sandro Aeschlimann to give the Belarussian a historic road win!
