Continuing our look back at the Top 5 Moments from 2019 in the Champions Hockey League, we come to a 'first-ever' piece of history that happened at the back end of last season.
Red Bull Munich's run to the CHL Final saw them become the first-ever German side to go that far in the competition. They qualified for the showdown ahead of Red Bull Salzburg, who were trying to be the first-ever Austrian team to go all the way as well. In a thrilling Return Leg in Salzburg, it was Munich who won through.
In the end, things didn't go Munich's way in the Final. They were beaten 3-1 by Frölunda in Gothenburg, but that run to the final, combined with great results for German teams this season, helped the country climb up the League Ranking. As things currently stand, the DEL will have four teams in next season's Champions Hockey League.
